A Father’s Day Message for My Son

Steven, I want to tell you what a wonderful man and father I think you are. The biggest gift you can give your children is your presence and active participation. I see this in you all the time. I saw you take little David rock climbing (and you’re a really careful and skilled rock climber) and I saw you take him on a father/son camping trip (which I thought was brave with a then not quite four year old). You bathe the children, feed them, care for them, and support your darling wife. You support your family as you make wise choices in your job. Your children will grow up to be close to you and honor you. I am so proud of you, my son. And very soon you will have one other little soul within your family, a little girl. Happy Father’s Day.

This is a testament to the parenting skills of you and Steven’s father as well. My two sons are like this also, and it is the thing about them I am the most proud of.

I don’t know about skills. I actually think it was more LUCK than anything else.
