Go South on I – 5

Looking across to the San Juans, originally uploaded by Gail Coulter.

When does imperfection become perfection? Dr. Cason at DrCason.org presented us with an imperfect picture. The beauty is evident if anyone is willing to open up their eyes and really see. This thought is especially important to me because I work in the field of disabilities. The children are often considered as less than perfect. But oh, they are so perfect and so precious. If only we can look beyond the “imperfection” to the perfection and see and value what is instead of dwelling upon what might have been. In that regard, I’ve never seen a “perfect” person. I’ve never met the ultimate in brave, trustworthy, beautiful, intelligent. I think we all possess qualities along multiple dimensions (some qualities more closely related to perfect than others) that make each one of us unique. The “perfection” within the “imperfection” – what a wonderful concept. And if I ever do find a perfect person, I’ll point them toward Hollywood where they belong. Yes, I’ll tell them take a left at the next exit and continue south on I-5 for the next 1200 miles.

Isn’t it our imperfections that make us unique? “Perfect” is an idealized sameness that is oh so boring. I would argue that true beauty is in the imperfections/
